Working on Gifted Issues (WOGI)
is a project funded through
the legislature and the Department of Education to provide
professional development and technical assistance related to
gifted education in Florida. The purpose of the project is to
provide support for district coordinators of the gifted to
support educators who work with gifted learners and foster
academic achievement for students who are gifted.
Professional development related to current topics of interest
is made available to align with review and updates for the five
endorsement courses required for teachers who work with gifted
students.
WOGI
provides awareness for parents of the gifted, supports a
statewide advisory group, facilitates regional meetings for
district contacts, supports online courses for the endorsement,
and provides materials and information for those who work with
students who are gifted.
The
WOGI
lighthouse symbolizes that we are always on the lookout for best
practices to guide educators, parents and others who are committed to
meeting the needs of gifted children.
