WOGI seeks to provide information for teachers, parents and others
involved in the education of children who are gifted in Florida.
Following are some organizations and other resources that may serve as
helpful resources.
Florida Department of Education Bureau of Curriculum and Instruction - Gifted Student Education
Provides information such as state laws and regulations, publications,
technical assistance papers, and resources and school district contacts.

Florida District Gifted Education Websites
If your Florida School District has a website or page dedicated to

The Association for the Gifted (TAG)
Organized as a division of The Council for Exceptional Children in 1958
to help both professionals and parents deal more effectively with the
gifted child.
Summaries are available in PDF format for the
2008-09
Challenge Grant for the Gifted Collaborative Curriculum Projects, a program established by the Florida Department of Education in 1981
which
encourages public schools and districts to implement exemplary programs
that appropriately challenge gifted students.
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
The largest international professional organization dedicated to
improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities,
students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.
A free, public school for profoundly gifted pupils on the University of
Nevada, Reno campus whose mission is to provide profoundly gifted young
people with an advanced educational opportunity matched to their
abilities, strengths and interests.
Davidson Institute for Talent Development
Currently one of only two national foundations supporting the profoundly
gifted population. The organization's mission is to recognize, nurture
and support profoundly gifted young people and to provide opportunities
for them to develop their talents in positive ways to create value for
themselves and others.
The ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education
Part of the National Library of Education [NLE], Office of Educational
Research and Improvement [OERI], and the U.S. Department of Education,
the Clearinghouse is the world's largest source of education
information; find information on a wide-variety of education topics such
as gifted, social/emotional issues, and educational options.
Florida Association for Gifted Children (FLAG)
FLAG is an Affiliate of the National Association for Gifted Children
(NAGC) whose mission is to support educationally appropriate programs
for gifted students through exchanging information, promoting research,
supporting constructive changes.
Gifted-Children.com: Identification, Encouragement, and Development (GCC)
An on-line parents' newsletter with networking and information dedicated
to making a difference in the education of children with special talents
and abilities.
Serves parents, schools, and advocacy groups with information about
identification, assessment, counseling, learning styles, programs,
presentations, and resources for gifted children and adults.
An on-line support community for parents of gifted and talented
children.
Hoagies' Gifted Education Page
A resource guide for the education of gifted children with links to
resources on nearly every aspect of gifted education available on the
Internet, plus annotations and first hand information provided by
parents.
Neag Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development
Research team focusing on meeting the needs of gifted and talented youth
whose studies have received national and international attention for
over 40 years.
Gifted Children's Bill of Rights (PDF)
Written by Del Siegle, 2007-2009 NAGC President.
The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC)
An organization of parents, educators, other professionals and community
leaders to address the unique needs of children and youth with
demonstrated gifts and talents as well as those children who may be able
to develop their talent potential with appropriate educational
experiences.
The National Parent Information Network (NPIN)
A project of the ERIC system administered by the National Library of
Education and the U.S. Department of Education with the mission of NPIN
providing access to research-based information about the process of
parenting, and about family involvement in education.
Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG)
Focusing primarily on the adults in the lives of gifted children, SENG
provides information on identification, guidance, and effective ways to
live and work with gifted individuals.
World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC)
An organization that focuses attention on gifted and talented children
and ensuring the realization of their valuable potential.
The College of William & Mary Center for Gifted Education
The Center for Gifted Education at The College of William and Mary, is a
research and development center, established in 1988 under the direction
of Dr. Joyce VanTassel-Baska. The Center provides services to educators,
policy makers, graduate students, researchers, parents, and students in
support of the needs of gifted and talented individuals. Located in
Williamsburg, Virginia, the Center has established a national reputation
for excellence in research, curriculum development, and service. Several
major grants, including funding from the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and
Talented Students Education Act, have provided significant support for
the work of the Center.
